Light the way

Over the past three years, I haven't taken a break from work while facing a variety of challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, political turmoil, the effects of the Ukraine war, an economic meltdown, and the devaluation of the rupee against the dollar, which has made it difficult for businesses to thrive. One of the biggest challenges has been finding suitable resources for the job. There has been a significant "brain drain" from Pakistan as many skilled people have left for better opportunities abroad. However, when I look around, I see many people who are unemployed. When I offer them a job or inquire about their availability, they often do not want to work or do not have the necessary skills.

Even those who are studying at private universities often struggle to write a coherent sentence. When I hire and train them, they sometimes become overconfident and compare themselves to their coworkers. I have also witnessed and experienced insecurity, competitiveness, a lack of trust, hoarding of information, a failure to delegate work, and negative attitudes towards everything without an effort to address their own issues. Some of the newer generations of employees also tend to brag about their supposed superiority. There is also often jealousy among different social and economic classes, leading to conflicts among peers. I really want to help these individuals learn to let go and grow, delegate, make friends, and solve problems for others. I want to create a culture of positivity and teamwork. My resolution for this year is to "light the way" and be a positive influence on those around me.
